Elephant Parade
Did you know that the Asian Elephant is threatened with extinction? Show Carriage has certainly become more aware of the elephant’s predicament, when along with our Singaporean service partner, we were honoured to be asked to provide transportation of life size art elephants from the UK to Singapore. These art elephants were required to join the “Elephant Parade” being held in Singapore from November, 2011 on to attract public awareness and support for Asian elephant conservation.
.
Show Carriage was tasked with collection of the art elephants from the UK studio and transporting them by air and sea to Singapore, where they completed the last part of their journey by road to the local organiser.
Each art elephant stands approximately 6’ high and was substantially crated in order to withstand the journey. Every elephant is different. Each one is painted in bright colours and different designs and once the elephants are together the “herd” makes for spectacular viewing.
The concept is to bring together art, business and charity. The open air exhibitions create awareness and raise support for the preservation of the Asian Elephant.
Elephant Parade exhibitions have previously taken place in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Emmen (NL), London, Bergen (NL), Heerlen, Copenhagen and Milan.
Each expo culminates in a prestigious gala event where the statues are auctioned to raise funds for the conservation and protection of these wonderful animals.
To date the Elephant Parade has made contributions in excess of 4 million Euros to support projects such as elephant hospitals, research and the continued lobbying of governments to protect these magnificent creatures. Please take a look at the photos on the web site www.elephantparade.com to see how truly spectacular these models really are.
